State of the Art Facility Opens

This past weekend was the official grand opening of the new downtown state-of-the-art gallery, theater and concert hall. Trouhgout the past year the residents of Elizabeth City have recognized a transformation in the old Lowry-Chesson Building. It has undergone some major renovations with the cost amounting close to $4 million. The Arts of the Albemarle's hosted a three day weekend of festivities with more than 400 guests in attendance. Events included: a casual-attired dinner friday, All That Jazz black tie gala, and a candlelight dinner saturday. The first floor of the gallery contains 250 artists, craftsmen and photographic prints that are all available for purchase. The second floor is where the Ryan Maguire Theater is located which features a 300 seat performance space with a wrap around balcony for the Encore Theatre Company.
